Meet Abby! Abby is a very sweet girl who needs some TLC. She was kept as an outdoor only dog and this is not the way she deserves to live. She is underweight by about 5 or 6 pounds. She is currently 19 lbs. This very lovable little girl needs to have a loving warm home to take proper care of her. Abby is an adorable little girl. She is very underweight but is a voracious eater and will quickly gain the 5 or 6 pounds that she needs. She is not housebroken but understands the basics and will soon achieve the goal. She is quite content to be kenneled as long as there are no distractions to peak her curiosity. We just shut the door in a back bedroom. She loves the outdoors even when it is very cold. She gets along well with other dogs no matter what size they are. She also has a good boundary sense with other dogs. When they do not want to play or be bothered she will leave them alone. She has plenty of energy and will play and play until she has tired out the dog or the person that she is playing with. She is also content to sit and cuddle. She can hold her own while playing rough with one of our dogs that is over three times her size. She is a quick learner. Within three days she has learned that she is not allowed in our bedroom and sits outside the open door and waits for us to come out. I have only seen her with a cat once but she seems to be fine with them. She is not an apartment dog. She occasionally howls and that might generate complaints in an apartment. An ideal home would have: * Fenced yard. * Another dog her size or larger. * Children or playful adults. * A friendly couch where she can sit with her family. *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
