Description:
A note from Vato's foster: We are calling "Vato" Stanley now, as that seemed more fitting for him! Stanley is a mixture of Rottweiler and American Staffordshire Terrier, and I must say he is absolutely an ambassador for both "bully breeds!" He displays more characteristics of a labrador retriever (ironically one of his foster brothers!) than of either of the breeds he was bred with! When Stanley first came into foster care at 6 months old, he was not potty trained or "housemanner-trained" whatsoever; as he lived his entire six months with both parents and three other littermates (who also did not appear to be trained at all). After only a month in foster care with Labrador and Australian Shepherd brothers to help show him how to be a "good dog" and constant "pack leader" attitude from his human parents, Stanley is now fully potty trained, knows how to sit, stay, come, leave it, shake, lay down, and we are contginuing to teach him more, as he is excited to learn! His brindle coloring is so beautiful and he gets constant compliments on it when out in public. Stanley is very shy due to the lack of socialization provided from his original owners, but he has REALLY come out of his shell in the last month, and now warms up after only a couple minutes of "get-to-know-you" sniffing of the new people. Speaking of people, Stanley LOVES kids! They are the only humans he is not afraid of initially and likes to give kisses on their faces since they can see eye-to-eye! He would be a great addition to any family with young children who are looking for a new playmate! Whomever adopts Stanley will be truly lucky; he is a great dog who learns so quickly and loves to love his humans; he will follow you from room to room just to be close to you, and likes praise from you even more than treats. He does not beg for human food and knows he is supposed to lay down during dinnertime. What more can you ask for? How about an opportunity to meet this little guy by filling out an adoption application below! Please feel free to fill out an Adoption application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
