Description:
Hey! Meet our boy Dante! Dante is a big, beautiful Chocolate Labrador Retriever who is loving life now that he is in rescue!! Dante lived the first five years of his life all by himself, stuck in a kennel except for the few times that he was able to experience the majesty of the outdoors, of the woods when he was out hunting. Dante was a sad and lonely boy coming into rescue and a walking bag of bones. He was so skinny that all of his ribs were sticking out. Interested in a stunningly beautiful boy? How about an obedienced trained, stunningly beautiful boy? Dante is holding on to a hope and prayer that there is a soft dog bed with his name on it and a loving family to call his very own. Dante is in need of a new foster home. His foster family has been told by their association that they can't keep him. They need to find a new foster home for him by Monday. What do you think? Interested in meeting Dante? He's waiting to meet you!! UPDATE FROM DANTE'S FOSTER: As far as we can tell Dante is a Chocolate Labrador/Great Dane mix. The lab is obvious, but the body shape and facial features are tell tale Great Dane, especially the extra jowels, and tapered body, and extremly velvet soft fur. Dont let his size fool you, he may not be the sharpest bulb in the pack, but he more then makes up for in love, devotion, and loyalty. Overall this boy has enough love and want/need to be a part of a family, then any 5 dogs combined. We have another Lab (Joe), Cat (Harley), 4 kids and a fish (Osmo). Dante is a winner with all of them. He is Joe's best buddy, and has no problems sharing toys, food treats, and family alike, though he may try to wedge himself into a pet/scratch session. With Harley, he recognizes another animal of some kind, but is is often Harley that intiates the want for playtime. Dante is a great outdoor dog, and would love nothing more then to go out for a walk, run, chase balls/ frisbee/ toy of any kind. With other dogs he is the usual excited to see anyone his type, but with a little restraint, or understanding from the other dog, Dante just wants to say hello as dogs do, no harm intended. We are told he was a hunting dog for the first 5 years of his life, and he does hold to that instinct. Dante is alwasy scanning the surroundings, especially the skies, eager to assist in a search for whatever. He is partially obedience trained, definately needs a firm ALPHA to keep him straight, and is willing to work with you. He is fully house trained, Dante has no problem prancing around the door that gets him outside, letting you know he needs to go. Ultimately this guy wants desperately to recieve the attention and food he missed in the beginnig of his life, and has managed to gain enough patience to not bulldoze anyone in the process. He is truely a GENTLE GIANT, just waiting for a scratch, a treat, and PLEASE THROW THE BALL!!! Please feel free to fill out an Adoption application on our main website, www.midwestanimalrescue.org, by clicking on the Form/Applications link under Website Features. Thank You! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
