Description:
Meet Nancee!
foster update:
Silky Nancee is a sweet, quiet, good-natured little dog. Although she is still very shy and cautious with people, Nancee is comfortable with the other small dogs in the house, and spends much of her time with her fellow foster dog, another silky terrier named Reba. Nancee can be quite playful, and has become a regular playmate for the one year old pup that also lives at her foster home. Nancee can climb the stairs to the second story, but has not figured out how to jump on furniture, which means that her puppy playmate often teases her from
atop the sofa. She enjoys chewing on real bones and rawhide, and is a good eater, but not food motivated. Once Nancee is convinced that she is safe with you, she will snuggle on your lap all night, and let you pet her soft fur and scratch her ears, but every day she needs to be reminded. At night, she sleeps in bed with her foster family, and usually sleeps the night through but sometimes will wander the house. Her foster mom calls her Silky, because she has the softest, silkiest, most beautifully iridescent blonde fur that glows in the sunshine. Nancee is still working on her housetraining, and she quickly figured out how to the use the dog door on her own, but she is not yet leash trained. Sudden movement and loud/unexpected noises still make her uncomfortable, thunder storms are scary, and she still won't walk through the door until there are no people in sight. Nancee is very lovable, but needs a home with lots of patience and love, and would do best in a home with another small dog to play with and help her learn about doggy life. Nancee is an adorable Silky Terrier that was used as a puppy mill breeding dog. She has been kept in a cage as a money making machine vs. living life as a well loved pet and companion.
Nancee was sent to the auction block where luckily there were some angels watching over her. Instead of being sold to another breeder, or worse...not selling and being disposed of, she was bought for rescue.
Nancee now has a second chance at life. She can finally learn what a loving home is - what kind words sound like and what gentle touches feel like.
Nancee would do best in a quieter home without young children and with another dog in the home that she can model after.
To adopt Nancee, please complete one of our on-line applications by clicking on the adoption button below. Thank you! *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
