July 9th, 2012 Update from Tator's Adoptive Home:

Hey there!  I just wanted to give you guys an update on Tater.  He is now 11 months old, has been absolutely fabulous and growing like a weed.  He continues to be great with the kids, lets them climb all over him and rarely gives them a nip (which, in all honesty, they deserve by that point).  He loves chasing after anything that somebody will throw for him, we go through tennis balls like nobody's business because he likes to tear them apart.  Tug of war is also a very popular game, he and the six year old are fairly evenly matched. He enjoys watching baseball games from the sidelines, though wishes that he could chase after the balls as they zing around.  He has been tolerating the heat well, even made it out in the 100+ heat for short walks.  Walks are pretty good in general, he likes to be the leader so we are working on him not pulling on the lead.  He rarely jumps up (only when really, really excited to see someone).  He crates well during the day, though lets us know that he would rather go with us.  His daily walks are sometimes not enough so we have somebody stop by a couple of times a week to give him a second walk during the day and he also goes to puppy daycare about once a week to get his wiggles out.  This has been very effective in keeping his energy at a manageable level :)  He loves riding in the car, is not sure about having the window open but definitely is pouty when somebody is sitting in "his" front passenger seat.  The hubby and kids are taking him to a cabin later this week where he will get a taste for jumping in the lake...I'm not sure we will get him out ;)  He loves his boys, joins us on their bed when we are doing bedtime stories and is always trying to break into the bathroom when they are trying to get some privacy, he is not a fan of having his "people" separated and would like to have them all herded together.  He is pretty attached to his mom (ie, the official dog walker and doggie daycare transport) and would love to cuddle up on the couch/bed with his people all the time if dad would let him.

Thank you so much for all that you do...we have run into so many people that have used MARS and have recommended the group to others that are looking for their forever friends.  Hope you are having a good summer!  Take care!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
