Description:

UPDATE 3/5-Gabriel is a sweet snuggly boy.  He has puppies now in his foster home and is so..... good with them.  He checks in on them when they're crying. His manners have improved greatly.  He is going to make a great addition to any family.  He loves to be with kids of any age, cats, dogs and people.  He has been on many Therapy Dog visits with his foster dog siblings and has been very well behaved and loved by young and old.

UPDATE 2/13-Update: This handsome boy is learning his basic obedience well.  He has learned that coming when called is not such a bad thing.  He is very treat motivated and has learning to be gentle when taking treats.  He loves running and playing in the snow with the other dogs. We are working on stopping the counter surfing but he thinks he is just helping with washing the dishes by licking them clean.  He knows the "leave it" and "enough" command very well.  He would love to go home with a family of his own and show you how amazing he is.

UPDATE 1/13-Gabriel AKA "Rio" is a great puppy.  Considering the abuse he has been through he still loves everyone and everything.  He is curious about everything and has the greatest facial expressions with a sideways cock of the head.  He is eager to learn and seems to appreciate having someone to guide him.  He is working on manners by learning the commands "leave it" and "enough".  He does very well on leash with the use of a Gentle Leader.  He would love to have someone to run with him or a yard to run in.  He is crate trained and house trained.  He has lots of fun puppy energy.  He is doing great with obedience training although still has a short puppy attention span. He plays well by himself or with other dogs.  He tries to play with the cats but they put him in his place and he respects them.  He would make a great companion for anyone willing to work with his puppy energy.

Gabriel is about a year old black and tan doberman who weighs about 60 lbs. He is a little under weight and is working on gaining a few pounds. Gabriel is great with other dogs and cats. He would love a home that brings him for walks or that would run with him. He is a very intelligent boy who would excel at obedience training. He is coming from a high kill shelter and needs a forever home or foster home. Can you help this boy??

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
