Meet Izzie!

* House-trained!
* Crate-trained!
* Very playful!
* Sweet and affectionate!

Izzie is a California girl at heart and LOVES the warmer weather and the sunshine!  She will sun herself on the back step or on the back of the couch.  She has enjoyed spending more time outside and keeps herself busy in the backyard or on her tie out in the front.

Izzie is a spunky but still very sweet, little girl who loves to give kisses. She loves being held and carried around but does not expect that.  She likes some toys but her favorite is playing with her person.  She has a pretty soft play bite and her foster owners remind her to be gentle.   She barks at new people but warms up fairly fast if the strangers have treats!

If you like Meerkat Manor, then you'll love Izzie - we've realized that she resembles a meerkat in many ways!  We talk to her about The Whiskers and The Lazuli gangs. She thinks she's tough enough for life out there.  Her arch enemies in our neighborhood are squirrels and bicycles!

She has been fostered with our 2 resident dogs and 3 different foster dogs. She knows not to pester our old dog but sometimes can’t help herself !  She was afraid to play with our lab at first but now she does every now and then because he’s gentle with her.  She has forced all 3 fosters to play with her – each of them had to be convinced but she was so persistent that they eventually gave in, much to her delight!  It’s extremely hard to say no to little miss Izzie!

She's potty trained now so she mostly stays out free reign while we're gone.  She crates really well so we do crate her if we’re gone for more than 5 hours.  At night she sleeps on the bed with us but would adjust quickly to a crate.

She may be a little timid with certain things like loud noises and sudden movements at first.  For that reason a home with no small children is recommended.  She would do perfectly fine with respectful, school aged children though.

Izzie is small but she has energy.  She wants to have fun and asks to play.  She is more content after she has a good play session or a walk where she can stretch out her legs.  We walk her on an extendable leash for this reason.  It’s so fun watching her race around!

She’s such a cute, fun, silly, girl – she will add so much life to her new owners’ lives!

*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification!

Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.

*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption.

When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.

Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks.

Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
