Description:
Hi my name is Toby. I was lucky enough to be brought into rescue by MARS after my family lost everything. My companion Penny is also available for adoption. I am doing well in my foster home, but am taking a while to adjust to the dog in the house; hopefully soon I will realize their value their humans see in them. I would be better off in a home with out them though.
My adoption fee covers my rabies, distemper, microchip, neuter and FIV/Feluk testing which was negative. My entire medical has been completed. He is looking for someone just like you. Click the ADOPT button below and meet this incredible cat who is looking for a fresh start!
Thank You!
Foster Update:
Toby has settled well into our house and we are getting to know him better. It took him a few weeks but he is tolerating Cosmo the dog, ignoring Cosmo unless he gets right in his face, then Toby will just hiss, he doesn't even run away anyore. I think as long as the dog isn't a 'chaser' that Toby would settle into life with a dog.
Toby is a lap cat. He loves to sit on laps and get love, he is a snuggly, kneading, purr machine, but it's 100% on his terms. He is a feisty guy and will let you know with a swat or a nip that he is not interested in your attention. He has never actually hurt anyone, and I don't think he would legitimately bite or scratch hard. But people with young kids might want to be aware that he isn't totally 'laid back' about unwanted attention. That said, my school aged kids ADORE him, he has a big personality and lots of love to give. The pic of him on my son's lap is very typical. He likes to 'hug' you with his head butted against you and knead and purr.
Also, Toby would like to be the top cat and he would be just fine as the only cat. He is (mostly) living with resident cat being dominant, but it's take a month to get a truce between the two of them.
Toby is a beggar on par with our dog. By far he is the most daring cat when it comes to asking for people food. So far, he is not a 'door dasher' and has not gone outside even when given the opportunity by an door left open.
*The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person! If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called "cute" as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.
*Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.
